I will be seeing Sleeping Beauty this Saturday featuring Barbara Bears. Anyone else going?

I do not live anywhere near Houston, but could you please let me know if you see a new corps girl named Bridgett Zehr doing anything special? Thank you so much in advance!
Old Fashioned
Zehr is an apprentice. I'll keep an eye out for her!

Thank you so much! wink1.gif

vrsfanatic, thought you might like to know that Bridgett Zehr appeared in Forsythe's "In the middle....." in the first cast! I saw her name in the program the night I went, but couldn't find anything else about her in there... no bio. I guess if she's new, then that explains it. Where did she come from?
Hans
Good choice seeing Bears, Old Fashioned thumbsup.gif Let us know how she does!

It must be interesting for Lauren Anderson to dance both the Lilac Fairy and Carabosse. Is Carabosse a dancing role in Houston's production?
Old Fashioned
I have no clue. If it isn't, it won't be the first time I've seen Anderson in a mostly mime role.

Yeah, she was apart of the cast I saw, too, although I don't remember much of her. An inside source tells me she's from Florida. I was also told she'll be dancing in SB as one of the Lilac Fairy's assistants.
vrsfanatic
Yes, Bridgett is from Florida! Any notification of what she dances and how would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :grinning:

I did read the review posted on BalletAlert about In the middle...,not bad for an apprentice to be first cast!

Hans, in the Houston Chronicle's review, this was said about the role of Carabosse:
QUOTE
In some versions of Beauty, Carabosse is a hag. In Stevenson's she's a wickedly beautiful ballerina. Lauren Anderson, having a ball, made her as sharp as that deadly spindle.

I'm sure Bens "Sleeping Beauty" has changed a lot since the old National Ballet of Washington days, but back then Susan Lorher was an incredibly beautiful (sur le pointe) Carabosse. She even had huge wings while guiding the Prince to Auroras castle.

Alas, no rush tickets available for tonight's performance. crying.gif The only other performance with Bears as Aurora is next Saturday's matinee; I'm crossing my fingers they'll have some then, but I have a feeling it's going to be bought out mostly by parents taking their children. However, I did get the chance to pass by the theater today and watch a few dancers on their way to rehearsal. It's always disappointing to see one puffing away on a cig, though. yucky.gif (I hope that's not considered gossip...no name will ever be mention; I'm just concerned about the welfare of some people.)

Zehr is a lovely dancer with an ideal body and feet and physicality as well as a very lovely person. She is from Harid and attended HBA's summer courses (with me!). smile.gif
Cristina
Old Fashioned,

At the risk of sounding ignorant....

What are rush tickets?

Thanks,
Cristina
Old Fashioned
Don't worry about sounding ignorant! The only way to learn is to ask questions. Rush tickets are tickets that are discounted for students or seniors. These are the "left over" seats that no one has bought at full price.

the show sounds wonderful! biggrin.gif
