Dick Cavett Interview with Ashton
Jane Simpson
I wonder if the place name pmeja couldn't quite pick up could be Aix-les-Bains? Ashton spent a holiday with Stein and Toklas near there one year, according to Julie Kavanagh's book.

It could be, Jane. I'll take another listen. Thanks!
Leigh Witchel
This is a wonderful interview.

It's a trivial recollection and not central to any of Ashton's points, but according to the Taper biography (p. 180) Balanchine asked for the credit "choreography by" in 1936 for On Your Toes rather than Agnes deMille for a later work like Rodeo.
