I brake for tendu's

It's not the size of the dance belt,
it's how you use it.

Ballerina's do it better
Alexandra
A few years ago, the Baltimore Opera had a slogan "Opera: It's Not as Bad As You Think. I proposed a counterpart, in the spirit of clueless marketeers trying to reach the Masses:

Ballet: It's Not As Bad As Opera!

I want you to get residuals for that one, Alexandra, it's sure to show up somewhere. yucky.gif

Giselle gives me the Wilies (perhaps negative but I think it's funny)

Hans
Alexandra, Baltimore Opera still uses that slogan!

We've all heard "Dancers Turn Out Better"

I often use this one as my AOL Instant Messenger icon: "Support the Arts--Hug a Dancer!"

Glynn Ross, one of the founders of the Seattle Opera, died this week, and the obits have been retelling stories. Ross was an unabashed huckster for opera, and one of the slogans he coined for an ad campaign was "Get ahead with Salome."
Hans
Haha, sandik the Baltimore Opera has some like that...they proclaim La Sonnambula "The sleeper hit of the year," as well as some others I can't recall.

I thought there used to be "Support the Arts -- Take A Dancer to Lunch!"

Don't know why, but "When in Doubt, Bouree Out..." appeals as a bumper sticker...
Hans
I like that lunch one, Amy. smile.gif

Maureen Miller of Loudoun Ballet used to say "When in doubt, do entrechat-six!" (And that was her advice to the girls.)
Gina Ness
I had this one on my mini-van for as long as it was readable: "The Artless Are In Charge Of Funding the Arts"... smile.gif

Dancers do it with a number of variations

yrs ago, SFB was on the brink (mid-70's?) and damara bennett was out on the street with signs trying to save the ballet. she, i think, was the one who passed out buttons that said, "Show Me Your Ballet Button"
cute!
Gina Ness
And, the first buttons Damara was referring to read "S O B" and vertically down from these letters "Save Our Ballet". I still have one... smile.gif
