Rosie
Hi, I have seen the Nutcracker in Tivoli Copenhagen and i thougth to give you a review of it. First of all i couldnīt sleep or eat for three days beacause i was very exited :hyper: this was my first balett and i didīt know what to expect.

The balett was a blast yahoo.gif the scenografi was beautiful made by Mikael Melbye he made a really good job especially with the snowballs. I loved the costumes, the mice were very amusing, The whole esemble was in my eyes very enthusiastic. The guestdancers who danced as the Prince and Clara was Sebastian Michanek and Nathaile Nordquist, was great they had a pas de deux and had each a little solo dance, but i must say i was very impressed of Sebastianīs lifts and piruetts biggrin.gif
I did have a wonderful time watching this balett in the end beacause i liked it that much and i didnīt want it to end crying.gif
When i did wacth the balett i had a special feeling this feeling i think is when you watch a balett live, itīs such a difirent feeling from the one that you have when you watch a balett on dvd.
However if canīt say a bad word for this balett i will never forget it smile.gif
Bill
Thanks, Rosie -- The Nutcracker performance sounds terrific. How was the general atmosphere at the performance? Was the theater full? Were there many families attending? Does the Nutcracker audience get dressed up in fancy clothes? Sorry for all the questions but I've never been to Denmark.

Ok, The atomsphere was great when the balett did end the applause wouldnīt end
especially when it came to Sebastian and Nathalie the theatre was full there were a lot of older people but also familys. A friend of mine was also on the nutcracker but not the same day as i she told me that when she was there the thearte was filled with children and their familys there was also Queen Margrethe with her nephews.
When i saw it there was a girl in the audience who was dressed in a ball dress, the rest i think had dresses and fancy clothes but not as fancy as ball dresses. The scene was to HOT i donīt know why but i think that it was beacause of the scene and the chairs was pretty near each other.
The show has set in Tivoli Gardens Concert Hall not in the Royal Danish Ballet.

The performance sounds like a great occasion. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

I have a feeling I'm the "friend" being referred to here blush.gif
For clarification:
The Queen was there with his son Joachim and one of her grandsons Nikolaj... (she is after all a very big fan of ballet. We regularly goes to the ballet with her sister and as many of you knoe: she has also made the costumes for one of the company's ballets.)

And there weren't exactly MANY families, but there were much MORE of them than on a regular performance. It also depends on the time of the day of course: matinés are aimed towards children, while evening performances are more for the adults.

IMHO, the dancer's Caroline Cavallo and Thomas Lund did great! I usually don't care much for Cavallo, but I think a pdd like the Nut suits her. Thomas Lund was receiving applauses that would never end!

Bill- Generally people aren't that dressed up here in Scandinavia compared with for example London. I have a feeling that performances of "the Nut" are rather crowded in general since it is the one year event that people bring their families to. There are also many tourists arriving to Copenhagen during winter to do some Christmas shopping. Consequently I think there were a fair amount of foreigners in the theatre. (People were more dressed up than on a regular performance wink1.gif )

Edit: Thank you balletmor...it was a slip of my mind with my English blush.gif that's the danger of copying and pasting

I've been to MANY Nutcrackers in my life, but the one that stands out in my mind (besides the ones my son and daughter have appeared in) as the most "magical", beautiful and one that I wanted to never end was The Royal Danish Ballet! It has been 2 years, so cant give a decent review, but please, If you EVER have a chance, do yourself a favor, get your self over to Tivoli Gardens, tour the Christmas village and see this Nutcracker!

By the way, The Queen must have been there with her grandsons not her "nephews".Prince Joachim has 2 young boys, Nicolai and Felix, these would be her grandsons (And she has a brand new crown prince grand son thanks to Prince Fredrick and Mary) off topic.gif
