I was looking over the preliminary casting for the Balanchine/Brown/Forsythe program and I was intrigued by the casting for Agon. Scheduled to dance the pas de deux are Marie-Agnès Gillot, Agnès Letestu or Stéphanie Romberg with Kader Belarbi, José Martinez or Hervé Moreau. I didn't realize that Belarbi was tall enough to partner any of those women. They all strike me as enormously tall.

I think Kader Belarbi is rather tall (certainly not as much as Jose Martinez or Hervé Moreau) and as far as I am concerned, I was not particularly shocked when I saw the casting.
Apart from that, don't pay too much attention to this preliminary casting, as some of the dancers scheduled got injured and finally won't dance. I could mention Mathieu Ganio and Isabelle Ciaravola in Apollo or Dorothée Gilbert in Trisha Brown's choreography, but I may forget some other names...

French ballet fans alerted me to this television report on the POB's performances of Apollo and Agon. It includes comments from Brigitte Lefèvre, Agnès Letestu (seen dancing in Apollo with Jean-Guillaume Bart), Kader Belarbi (who does look pretty small next to Marie-Agnès Gillot in Agon) and Benjamin Pech.
