Most people I've talked to who have seen this MCB season have been wowed by a new young member of the corps, Alex Wong. He excelled equally in prominent roles in classical (the only man in Raymonda Variations), Balanchine (second couple in Symphony in Three Movements, where he one of the most Balanchinian dancers on stage; pas de trois in Agon), contemporary (a "stomper" in Tharp's In the Upper Room) ) and even character (an appealing Sancho Panza in Don Q). Plus a small part in Lilac Garden. All in his first year. Talk about "emploi" -- as we are on another thread.

Wong was the top scholarship winner at the 2004 Prix de Lausanne when he was 17. He's a much stronger, more developed dancer now, and his stagecraft has grown exponentially. But it was still fun to find these videos of his performances on the official Prix de Lausanne website. Just scroll down to 2004 and click each segment for the video. I couldnt' get the third to appear, but "classical" and "contemporary" are available.

Yes, and I've enjoyed his posts on the Winger. I remember being impressed by Alex at the Prix (watched online) and since enjoyed his visit to London as part of the ABT Studio Company.... He is indeed fabulous to watch.
