I've recently watched videos on YouTube posted by ilyaballet, some of which show dancers of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy (apparently his own pupils). I am confused. Is this the same as the Moscow Choreographic Institute?

Yep. The Vaganova Institute is at St. Petersburg. Both places have lots of bynames.
