I'll be there Friday. I remember last year's "Our Show" fondly. So I couldn't resist, despite the long drive down to Miami.
Last year's program consisted of:
-- A pas de trois from Corsaire,
-- A work ("Venia") by then-corps-member Alexander Dutko, who I believe moved to Gamonet this season.
-- Alex Wong dancing Rachel Porier's 747,
-- A Full-cast piece called "Chidlren of Uganda" by Casia Phillips, who has volunteered with relief agencies in Africa
-- Catoya in a variation from Bayadere,
-- Ashley Knox doing a traditional Highland Fling
-- Deanna Seay, Brad Dunlap, and Katie Gibson in an original piece by Misha Nikitine.
-- A piece for a couple and 3 additional women, by Stephen Satterfield, to music of Vivaldi
-- A variation from Balanchine's Square Dance, danced by Amir Yogev.
-- Deanna Seay's Dying Swan (Fokine)
-- A piece for 3 men and 3 women by Marc Spielberger, to music including Arvo Part and the Kronos Quartet
-- A solo from Skylphides, by Carolyln Rose Ramsay,
-- and twins Leigh-Ann and Sara Esty, Synergy, to music by John Willians, with a cast of 4 shorter girls and 4 tall girls.
-- plus a full-company Finale.
There were a few surprises two, including random appearances by Ezra Hurwitz and a hilarious Jeanette Delgado.
I loved the cast list, which included essential information about everyone who was dancing including such facts as:
-- Marc Spielberger has the best bod
--Tricia Albertson, Most likely to pick up a stray cat AND Most spunky (
Good for her on both counts)
-- Alex Wong loves to tap dance
-- Andrea Spiridonakos has the Best Fashion Sense
-- Amanda Weingarten is Most likely to have a large family
-- Chaz Meszaros, Most likely found doing Concerto Barocco in another room
-- Deanna Sea (Most likley to never miss a balelt class. Most likelyi to know how to fire a rifle.
-- Ashley Knox, Funniest onstage actress
-- Allynne Noelle is Most likely to knock herself out with her own leg
-- Mary Carmen Catoya is Most likely to have another new puppy
-- Daniel Baker, Most likely to be a power cheerleeder (which explains his recent YouTube appearance with Alex Wong)
-- Patricia Delgado, the Best Advice Gier
-- Jeanette Delgado, a practioner of hip hop
-- and Alexandre Dufaur as being "Most likely to be on time" (I thought that was ME!)
