Hi, I'm told that the companies that employ ballet dancers usually shut down in the summer. Just curious: What opportunities are available to dancers who want to perform professionally in July and August? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks!

From the articles in Links:
Summer performances (ex: PNB in Vail) Teaching at summer residencies Guesting (ex: Ballet Arizona dancers performing with Novaballet, a contemporary company) Choreographing
Also in August some companies are back in rehearsals for September performances and/or to learn roles from stagers who are available then (for programs later in the year).

Does the Carlisle project still run? They used to hire summer "help" for their resident choreographers.
