My father recently published a book of his never-before-seen photos of Rudolf Nureyev during his tour with the Dutch National Ballet in 1978. It is a labor of love.

Please enjoy the description and photos at the below link, should you have the interest.

This project began as a gift to Rudi van Dantzig at his retirement and has matured through years of effort. It was developed with the collaboration of Rudi and Toer Van Schayk. It has been created with close attention to detail and extreme precision. It is included in the archives of the NY Public Library for the Performing Arts.

For those in the NYC area, a presentation of the photos and the stories behind them will take place at the Port Washington Library during the coming year. This engagement is still being scheduled. I will provide an update if there is any interest.

Warm regards,
Joe

Thank you for the information on this book. I have seen a few of the photos on the on the NYPL website as well as the Flickr.com website, and they are phenomenal. I look forward to attending

The presentation at the Port Washington (NY) Library is scheduled for Friday, December 19th at 12:10 PM. Roger will present photos (including some that did not make it into "Life Behind the Metaphor") and share the stories behind them. He will also discuss the creative process behind the book and its fabrication.

Discounted books will be available for purchase and a set of the platinum prints will also be on hand. The facility seats 178. Please spread the word.

You may refer to the Port Washington Library website for more information as the date approaches.

Thanks for the details, pinner!

There are some stunning photographs of Nureyev in this book. There are also many photos of members of the Dutch National Ballet in performance and relaxing on tour.

The photos of the dancers using the diving board in the pool at the St. Louis Ritz are my favorites. That and the one where Nureyev is levitating eight feet above the floor. So much fun...
