I know this may sound like a stupid question and I don't even know if its in the right place, but in the movie Center Stage, what type of dancing is Jodie doing when she goes to the dance class at the other studio?
Alexandra
Not a stupid question at all, lilflower. I can't answer it, because I haven't seen the movie, but there have been a lot of posts about Center Stage here -- I'm going to move this over to the Anything Goes forum, where more people may see it.

well i would call it jazz maybe contemporary but thats just what it looks like to me!!

I would say jazz. Some of the stuff looked a lot like some things we do in my jazz class.

I believe it was jazz but you have to remember, this was a movie and everything was carefully choreographed and there were probably many takes before they got it all together to look like one fluid piece. They used a little of this and a little of that probably for the full effect. I loved it and that was one of my favorite parts, especially when Stiefel danced. He really let loose!

It is a great number, isn't it? I heard that many of the other dancers were from the dancing cast of Fosse, but I'm not sure. It looked like jazz with bits of hip-hop in it. I wish in real life I could just take one class and get a huge routine like that perfectly! I love the movies.
